Sometimes, it's just so easy for us to compare ourselves with those around us....well, some take it positively, others not so. But the human mind tend to draw us into that state, the state of competition and comparison.

While it may draw some positive outcome from it, I believe life is not about competing with our fellow human beings. If that's what we do, we are no different from any other animals who compete for survival.

THE ONLY PERSON THAT YOU NEED TO COMPARE YOURSELF WITH, IS THE PERSON YOU WERE YESTERDAY.

So, if you are struggling about comparing yourself with others, look at the whole situation and think again. Every step forward is something for us to rejoice about in life!

Today I rewatched the movie: Bridge To Terabithia....one of the best movie I've ever watched. So much meaning, so much depth and so much more that it exposed us unto.

But I'll take one of the most motivating part of the movie:

"YOU KNOW, THE BEST PRIZE THAT LIFE OFFERS, IS THE CHANCE TO WORK HARD AT WORK WORTH DOING"

I think that's one of the most motivating thought we need to keep going....to work hard at work worth doing...

In life, it is easy for us to feel tired and give up, but life is like a marathon. You got to keep going, no matter how slow you may be getting, because as long as you don't stop, you will be able to cross the finishing line.

KEEP GOING.

I've been back to the gym and I realize the lesson from gym. Keep going. It does not matter how slowly you go in life, as long as you do not stop.

Sometimes, it is easy to be caught up with other "urgent" things that we forgot what is most important to us in life.

I think it is important that we learned to look at life, as though each day is the last. I remembered reading a quotation by Steve Jobs on how he looked at life once he realized his illness.

“Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.

Almost everything--all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure--these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.

Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it, and that is how it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It's life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.”

Some day, we may wake up to realize that there is no time to do the things that we've always wanted to do. Do It Now!

In life, there are times when things don't according to plan and there are times that you question your actions and decisions in the past.

I guess, while it is important to learn from mistakes, let's not dwell in them.

MY RULE #29

All the mistakes you made in the past lead you to the person that you are today.

NEVER EVER REGRET THEM!

Hope that this will serve as a reminder for us as we continue in this Horse Year 2014!!

Sometimes in life, we can be too careful that we forgot about living.

The other day, after watching the movie “The Internship”, it just got me thinking about life. No doubt about that…it is important to take precaution in the decisions of our daily lives…but let us learn to take risk once a while. Sometimes, the road less taken is the one that will lead us to somewhere…to a new adventure.

Therefore, it make me thought of MyRule #28: Take risks! Live a little! Adventure may hurt you, but monotony will kill you.

Sometimes, when we look at people who succeed in becoming champions, we wonder why.

I still remembered while working in CAD with Great Eastern, there are always those who became champions in certain categories...then I will hear agents commenting about the champions...on how good that person is etc etc...the admiration shown and salutation. Well, I wouldn't understand what the agents felt but I definitely know the route to be champions is a difficult one.

Over the years in schools and at work, there is one simple rule that I learned: Champions are ordinary people who keep playing until they get it right.

My Rule #27

So take heart.....if you cannot get it right this time, keep playing...keep going....because eventually, you will get it right. That's how champions are made.

Well, at times, it felt disappointing and tiring when one face with failures....it makes one question the decisions and choices made.

I used to have this feeling whenever I felt with failure but there is one important thing that I learned along the way...that failure is part of life, and we need to learn to embrace it.

My Rule #26

So, the next time if you felt that the sign of failure is weakness, remember this:

If you're not failing every now and then, it might be a sign that you might be living your life a little too much on a safer side.

So, if you have met with failure, congratulations! Keep trying over and over again and you may succeed. If you have never fail on the other hand, maybe it's time to ponder on this because maybe you are taking a track that is too much on safer side.

At times, you just become agitated with the fact that people saying things like you're still young or you're not experienced enough. While some of these feedbacks are important for one to grow, it's also discouraging at times.

Anyway, I was reading on an article the other day about people who make it there...while we read these successful stories, most of us don't realize what these people have to go through to reach there.

We just got to remind ourselves whenever we are down, that "Everyone who got to where they are not has had to begin where they were. Get Started." That rule itself should be a good motivation for one to Get Started and stopped complaining. A lot of people just complained and forgot that we are all part of this system. It is probably messed up but there are still people who make it. So instead of complaining, let's start planning...let's start doing....let's start this journey!

Today, I just felt a bit demotivated because of some of the things in life. It makes me realize that integrity alone is not enough....honesty in itself is not good enough. That "gentleman's agreement" only exist in the ideal world, and because of that, I thought of a simple Rule that I want to uphold strongly, regardless of what happen moving forward...NEVER GIVE UP!!

Suddenly, it just reminded me of a quote that I heard during the latest "Rocky" movie by Stallone.

Let me tell you something, that you already know .....
The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows,
It's a very mean, and nasty place,
And i don't care how tough you are,
It will beat you to your knees,
And keep you there permanently,
IF YOU LET IT...

You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life.
But ain't about you how hard you hit ...
It's about how hard you can get hit,
and keep moving forward ....
how much you can take,
and keep moving forward...

THATS HOW WINNING IS DONE!

The other day I was reading about the movie "Turbo" when I realize how true it is...that in life, there are so many people who come to you as friends and tell you that your dreams are too big, or that you are not being realistic.

In the movie, I love this quote the most:

No dream is too big, and no dreamer is too small.

I guess at times, we need to look back at what motivates us when we were young....where our passion and energy was.

Some people call us to grow up, and be realistic about life, but this enhances the determination within: "DON'T LET SMALL MINDS CONVINCE YOUR DREAMS ARE TOO BIG"

Go for it on your own strength, even though you have to do it one step at a time.

The other day while I was sleeping, a friend of mine sent me a beautiful quote that really inspire me:

"LIFE IS LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE. TO KEEP YOUR BALANCE, YOU MUST KEEP MOVING"

I really appreciate that message. So often, we are too comfortable with our surroundings, with things that we are familiar with that we decide to stay stagnant, not realizing that time continue to move while we stop there.

I think that's how it works with life...it's just like riding a bike. You have to keep MOVING.

It was really a dilemma when I made the choice to tender my resignation.

Most people will probably said it was done out of impulse....but I doubt so. I believe that in life, we have to take certain bold steps...to make certain decisions; to follow after the CHANGE that we want to see.

This is what helps to form My Rule: #21

In life, there are many times that we have to make changes...we have to make decisions....we have to make that bold step to see the CHANGES in our lives....

You can't just wish CHANGE or talk about it; You have to take the bold step to live the CHANGE and make it a REALITY.

At times, it can be so frustrating in life. We look at the lives of those next to us and another criticism form in our head....but let us learn this important truth: BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE SOMEONE, YOU SHOULD WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOE

My Rule: #19

Sometimes, when I look at life, it's easier to take the shortcut....to do things for the sake of doing...but what I learned from a good friend of mine is this:

Courage is doing the right thing when nobody's looking and doing the unpopular thing because it's what you believe in.

I'm thankful for the experience that I've gained with people like this, and I will always remember this as I walk on in my life.

My Rule: #18

I have known a lot of people who kept complaining about not having enough time for their work, friends or family.

I guess the simple truth is this: You will never find time for anything, that is why you must make the time to make it happen.

Let others take you as you are. Speak your truth even if your voice shakes.

Working has definitely change me to a certain extend but let's be very honest...I am not the kind of person who run away from my conviction to get a certain promotion or to win someone's heart. If I believe in something that is good, I will work my way to prove it right. Therefore, let others take you as you are...should they despise your honesty or blatant truth, let time and results be the Judge...for I will speak the truth, even if my voice shakes in fear....for this part of me, will always stand firm.

My Rule: #16

Sometimes, we are probably too busy in life or too proud to spend some moments to appreciate friends who have been great to us...friends who love and cherish our companion.

I guess it's important that we take time to acknowledge people who have been supportive, caring and there for us.

An old wise saying become my rule today:

"If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know how great they are"

My Rule: #15

Today Su Xian IM me and asked if I was free for lunch...but since I had already made an appointment, we agreed to find some other time. We continued chatting about our work and the workload that is taking our energy away from studies. Honestly, working until 10pm or 11pm ain't going to help you to find time for studies....all the more when one is doing it without a tutor's assistance.

She mentioned that this is what make us stop chasing our dream....somehow, she is right, but somehow, deep down inside I believe and know that it's never too late to be what you might have been.

If this is the dream that I wanted to go after, it is never too late...all I have to do is to take the first step.

Sometimes, it is easy for us to take the easy route....by accepting what comes our ways...if things are good and beautiful, we embrace it....if things are bad, we complained bout it but we didn't do anything...basically, we just sleepwalk through our lives...

But I think there must be a clear sense of what one want to do and aim in life...that how one can enjoy and experience life.

"Stop sleepwalking through your life. Your life is something to be experienced, not coasted through."
