Napoli snap up Spain defender, Raul Albiol

It seems that while everyone is talking about Juventus, Napoli is slowly strengthening its' own squad under Benitez. The manager has already been linked with a move for Liverpool goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, with Rodgers confirming the rumour.

But what surprises us today is that Napoli snap up Spain defender, Raul Albiol from Real Madrid. Albiol, 27, has signed a four-year contract with the Serie A club. The centre-back had moved to the Bernabeu from Valencia in 2009 but found himself behind Sergio Ramos, Pepe and, more recently, Raphael Varane in the pecking order.
This could be the main reason for the player to move over to Napoli.

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez has already spent significant funds on Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven and Jose Callejon from Madrid, and has hinted that Internacional striker Leandro Damiao could follow. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed there is an interest in Gonzalo Higuain.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is also likely to move to Naples on a season-long loan as the Partenopei, having finished runners-up last season, look to challenge Juventus for the Scudetto under their new coach.

According to the Italian club's official website, this was statement made:“Napoli have formally completed the purchase of Raul Albiol. The 27-year-old Spanish defender arrives from Real Madrid and signed a four-year contract.”
