United won 5-1 against A-League All Stars

United is back to winning ways, with Van Persie back to the squad.

Robin van Persie wasted no time in picking up where he left off last season with the final goal in Manchester United's comfortable 5-1 win over the A League All Stars in Sydney. The striker was only introduced for the final half hour after a heavy week's training, but it was long enough to claim the assist for Danny Welbeck's second before atoning for an uncharacteristic miss by driving home from close range almost immediately afterwards.

For Moyes, it was a welcome first win. Jesse Lingard opened United goal scoring in front of about 83,000 audience.

Showing imagination to dummy Ryan Giggs' pass, Welbeck allowed the ball to run on to an unmarked Lingard. The 20-year-old kept his nerve to put the visitors in front from 10 yards. A delicate pass from Giggs sent Welbeck beyond the All Stars defence just past the half hour and the England forward scored.

The opposition pulled one back with Besart Berisha scoring the only goal for A-League All Stars. United was quick to reply, with Lingard is the man again to score for United. After that, it was the introduction of Van Persie and Welbeck too his chances when he turned home Van Persie's corner.

Van Persie ensured that his goal scoring form continued when he scored the final goal of the game.
