Moyes brought both Fellaini and Baines to Goodison Park during his tenure as Everton boss, with the former arriving from £15m from Standard Liege in 2008 and Baines a £6m capture from Wigan in 2007.
Both players excelled under Moyes on Merseyside but the Scot is sensitive about the need to conduct business with his former employer in the right way, having spent 11 years at Everton, a club he deeply respects.
The new United boss has so far been frustrated in the transfer market, with Thiago Alcantara opting to join Bayern Munich from Barcelona and a move for his former teammate Fabregas proving complex.
The Old Trafford club have only added young Uruguayan full-back Guillermo Varela to the squad this summer but Moyes is aware of the need for a central midfielder following the retirement of Paul Scholes.
With the move for Fabregas seem to be falling apart, Manchester United might just be making a big move for the Everton duo.
