It took me a while to write this post. Honestly, there have been games that United played badly but none such as this....
With the attacking players like Robin Van Persie, Rooney, Falcao, Di Maria, Herrera...it felt as if United will win this easily....all the more when United took the lead.
Falcao showed that he is capable of more than scoring when his cross found Van Persie who headed United first goal...it wasn't long before Rooney made a simple pass to Di Maria who shot and scored a glorious and amazing goal. It was a spectacular goal...but before long, Leicester pulled back one. Rafael and Evans were both caught sleeping and Leonardo Ulloa was sharp to score. There were a lot of brilliant run by Di Maria and United dominated the game. But with such a terrifying attacking line-up, it is impossible not to score more.
In the second half, before the hour mark, Herrera scored a goal when Di Maria made a back heel to score a brilliant goal. But Leicester City were great and sharp. They did not waste much of their chances and when the referee award a controversial penalty against Manchester United, the defense collapsed. Leicester hit back through a David Nugent penalty and Esteban Cambiasso equalised before Jamie Vardy and an Ulloa penalty secured the win.
It was unbelievable....the central back at United were playing so badly....I wonder why Smalling is still at United and Rojo was horrible in this game. Maybe Luke Shaw will get his chance because of Rojo's performance...
And once Leicester took the lead, United were messy....rushing to attack without a clear direction. I'm not sure if I'm the only one but Rooney was not as creative as Mata. Putting Mata on without Di Maria definitely is not a good idea. Januzaj may be talented but he has a long way to go to play such an important role to get back a win for United.
It was a terrible game, one that showed just how much is lacking in United's defense....not only the skill but the characteristic to handle such pressure. Van Gaal has a lot of work to do...
