Preview: Man City vs Man United

I miss one of Manchester United's big game...the game against Chelsea because I was in Taiwan for vacation

Anyway, I'm not gonna miss this one as City welcome United to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City vs Manchester United

These two giants are looking to win this game to kickstart their slow start to the season. While Manchester United's Louis Van Gaal might seem to have created the fight back spirit in the current squad, they have yet to win as much points as they wanted to. With City's recent under performance, LVG might want to exploit on that...and to improve on the recent record against their "noisy neighbor".

The blue half of Manchester have a fantastic recent record over their illustrious rivals, with the ‘noisy neighbours’ emerging victorious from five of the last six encounters.

However, City had a disappointing result against CSKA Moscow in the recent UEFA Champions League game that ended with a draw and was defeated 2-1 to West Ham last weekend, in a game that saw them losing ground against current league leader, Chelsea. A 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, coupled with injury to key playmaker David Silva, compounded Manuel Pellegrini’s woes.

United will be boosted by an improved performance especially now that Robin Van Persie got a much needed goal himself against Chelsea to boost his confidence. Defensive frailties have been the catalyst for such a slow start, with injuries blamed for a lack of continuity within the United rearguard. De Gea has been the only player to start in all the games and has been impressive when on his day. The United attack is threatening but LVG will have to improve on the defense if United were to win this game.
