| 100GB of free OneDrive storage for 1 year |
The freebies are becoming a norm from the Redmond company.
Last week, Microsoft gave away 100GB of free storage for two years to create a Bing Rewards account. And now Microsoft OneDrive is offering 100GB of free storage for one year to Dropbox users. Before this, Microsoft had also given 15GB storage for free to everyone. But this 100GB will only be available for a limited time, one additional year....
Here are the normal charges that are charged for 100GB storage on OneDrive.
- Microsoft OneDrive normally charges $1.99 per month for 100GB of storage.
- Subscribe to Office 365 Home or Personal. Office 365 Home costs $9.99 per month ($99.99 per year) and Personal costs $6.99 per month ($69.99 per year). Both of these plans offer unlimited OneDrive storage.
This current offer is only limited to user who are also Dropbox users and the first 10 million users who redeem it.

You will have to login to your Outlook and allow access. Microsoft OneDrive also has to verify that you have a Dropbox account by uploading a PDF file called “Getting Started with OneDrive” to a Dropbox folder. This will require you to log in to your Dropbox account. After the PDF has been uploaded, you will be redirected to a confirmation page that says “Your bonus storage was successfully applied!” The 100GB of free cloud storage is known as the “Enthusiast bonus” in the OneDrive account.
Microsoft go serious on partnership
Microsoft has been very serious in expanding her partnership under the leadership of Nadella. While Microsoft was traditionally known to be conservative and focus on internal products, Nadella seem to be very generous on his effort to go BIG in his partnership and alliance with different companies, even to competitors like Google and Apple.
This seems to be an extension of an existing partnership between the two companies — which went into effect last December — where Microsoft Office users were given access to Dropbox within the productivity apps. Dropbox also allows users to edit Microsoft Office files from within the Dropbox app. When the partnership was announced, Dropbox said that they were hosting over 35 billion Microsoft Office documents.
That did not stop Microsoft from taking a job at Dropbox though. “Drop the box – move your photos, music, and docs to #OneDrive and get 100 GB for one year free,” said Microsoft OneDrive in a tweet about the bonus storage.
Well, this is definitely a welcome move to consumers like you and I...feeling great with this big free cloud storage from Microsoft.
