It was just a 2 days 1 night trip to chill out at the historic place in Malaysia. We went in the morning and thank God for a good weather on that day.
It took us about 2 hours to arrive our destination, in the Malacca Town. We arrived at the Stadthuys and walked around, taking some snapshots in our tour.
#PS: Please be careful while walking around and taking photos. Some tourists wouldn't mind pushing you just to take a good photo. My sister hurt her leg because some tourists were to enthusiastic at taking photos.

Moving from there, we go to Jonker Street. There is a restaurant there that was said to be very famous....Kedai Kopi Chung Wah
Alright, it looks like some old "kopi tim" that I see around Ipoh town or even in KL, but when I looked at the crowd, I believe it must be very good.
Their famous chicken rice ball seem to be the reason for the long queue.
Of course, after trying them, I felt it's overrated. Not that it's not good....I just don't think the long queue and price are being justified by the taste. So, I think it's best not to set your hopes too high.
After that, we went to the shop opposite it: San Shu Gong.

Basically, it's the shop where one could buy all the popular stuff here....there are things like the Lao Qian coffee, teh tarik, the sakeima biscuits, coconut candies, durian candies, ginger candies etc. They also sell their famous durian cendol there. (not that I like it though).
After that, we went to admire the famous fortress: Porta de Santiago (A' Famosa)

Of course, we made sure that we conquered the St. Paul's Hill after that as well.
Along the way during the day trip, I saw some of these very interesting stuff that I decided to take photos of it.

Apparently, these 2 armoer vehicle played a significant role during the Emergency period (1948 to 1950).
Anyway, continuing after that, we check in to Hotel Inn. While my parents decided to rest in the hotel, we go for our next food hunting: Satay Celup.
Honestly, initially, I thought we were going to eat satay until Yen Leng and Chiew Lian explained to me that it's not satay....it's just the satay sauce. Basically, it's like eating luk luk except that the sauce is satay sauce. We went to Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup instead of the one in Capitol to avoid the jam and queue.
We took away some for our parents as well.
After that, we had a simple Father's Day and Belated birthday celebration for our dad and our brother (as he was enjoying himself in US on his birthday). We bought a cake back to the hotel. Here are some of the photos we took back at the hotel. (Photos taken by Yen Leng)

Night time, we head back to Jonker Street to shop. Well, it's basically just a pasar malam with some Melaka feel in it. Nothing to shout about though but credit must be given to how the Melaka utilize the street both for the day and night. I guess if you love Petaling Street, Jonker Street is a must visit for you then.
We had our dinner in Hard Rock Cafe, Melaka.
Definitely an overpriced place to go to for dinner but the environment is great and the food is delicious. But I must said the band that was playing that night was really just so-so. I would rather they not play.
The next day, we didn't go to any place. I fetched Chiew Lian to the hospital instead because she hurt her leg the other day. (as mentioned in the beginning of the post). Nothing serious...just more for precaution. After that, we had a quick lunch in one of the mall.
Before we head back to KL, we went for the Klebang Coconut Shake.
Well, we definitely have missed out a lot of other interesting activities and even food in Melaka but it was a great way to spend the weekend with family and Yen Leng. I think occasionally, it's great to enjoy the rich history and culture of our own country and even the food.
Not the best food that I had nor was it the best experience I had, but definitely a great memories and time spent with loved ones. And it's good to look back at our history and see what a long way we've come.
