One of the things that I've learned is that a smartphone's battery has to last long even when the GPS is being used. Most of the phones boast of the talk time life but when Waze is turn on, it runs out of juice in a matter of time, which is why the power banks and car chargers are selling so well.
Battery life dropped by 10% only even when Waze/GPS is turn on for about an hour
But with Mate 9, the battery last very long even when I've used the GPS for quite long. Two hours in fact. From using the device for a day or two now, I realized that when Waze is being used, the battery dropped about 9 to 10% in an hour's usage.
Here's what I manage to get out of Mate 9 for the day: 14 hours on what I considered as a rather heavy usage.

I've set brightness to automatic with WiFi and data being turn on. The NFC was turn on whenever I used it only while the location is also turn on by default. My Facebook has been set up along with all my emails (2 gmails account and one Outlook) that will sync every 15 minutes. As it's the weekend, my emails notifications were not as high but it still buzz me quite often. I have also set up the cloud setting to sync the photos whenever I'm in a place where WiFi is available. Fingerprint and other basic set ups are done as well.
I have turn on Waze for two hours in my usage. I also played games like FIFA Mobile and Asphalt 8, which usually drain most smartphone's battery quite a bit. (about an hour in total). I used quite a lot on the Chrome as well, played a bit of video on YouTube. A lot of Facebook, WhatsApp and social media usage as well including some phone calls. As I have got work to do, I also managed to spend quite a bit of time using Word Mobile on Mate 9 for quite a bit.
I also played quite a bit with the camera on Huawei Mate 9, which is also another feature that tend to eat up the battery quite a bit during the usage.
Overall, even the usage has been quite heavy, for it to last 14 hours and left 5%, I think it's simply amazing. I do noticed the drop after 20% was slightly faster than while it was above 20%.
SUPER CHARGING [Charge from 5% to 100% in about 2 hours]
To be honest, fast charging is not something that really blow my mind because smartphones like iPhone, Samsung, Lumia and other flagships tend to have the same feature, varied slightly in terms of the time it takes for full charge.
However, given the superb battery life, the fast charge becomes mind blowing.
Will blog more about the usage of the device as well as its camera, but for a quick summary, Mate 9 is pretty user friendly and one could easily get a hang around it especially if you have always been a Google user. Microsoft users will take a bit of time to get used to it but it's a smartphone that is easy to use and has some nice features as well.

ReplyDeleteThe Huawei Mate 9 is a very large smartphone that does a great job of not feeling so in use. The curved back, minimal body to screen ratio and solid build mean it’s easier to hold onto than you might expect.
But with that 5.9in screen, it’s still a massive phone whichever way you look at it, both in use and in your pocket or bag.
After the demise of Samsung’s top-end Note 7 phablet, the Mate 9 is ready to fill the void, as long as a stylus isn’t crucial. So if you want a phone with the big screen, snappy performance and great battery life, a good camera, excellent fingerprint scanner, expandable memory and dual-sim support you can’t go far wrong with the mate 9.
