Anyway, the game began with United showing a lot of determination to win the game. The midfielders were quick to intercept whenever West Ham tried to play the ball...the defenders were showing a much better confidence...the performance of rookie, Paddy McNair deserved some applause. He was assured in his passing and he showed some ambition and boldness now and then as well....His clearing header was an important one with less than 10 minutes...it's something that Evans and Smalling would have to learn.

Rookie, McNair shines |
Di Maria was good in this game but did not meet the expectation...there was an obvious chance that was wasted...but he was clearly an important player in United's counter attack.
Rafael was one of the most outstanding player in this game, from the beginning of it...His attack from the beginning was dangerous and his assist to Rooney for his first goal was amazing. His overlapping was a key feature of the first half and in comparison to Luke Shaw, he was much faster, determined and hardworking. His assist definitely contribute to this win.

Rooney's celebration after his first goal from a terrific assist from Rafael |
After that goal, United continued to play some good possession, although I have a feeling that the current squad did not really know how to hold on to the lead and slow the pace of the game....the second goal was a great one from Van Persie...with Falcao assist.

RVP continued to score |
With the 2 nil lead, United continued the possession without any real threat....then West Ham started to get into the game here and there...and the corner that lead to their 1st goal was a mistake from De Gea....he charged forward indecisively in the 37th minute, and there was no way any defenders could stopped West Ham from scoring the goal.

West Ham got back into the game after a goal from corner |
In the 2nd half, West Ham showed much determination to get back into the game and Rooney got himself a red card with a stupid foul. With half an hour to go, Rooney caused United to defend the entire the game after his red card.
Louis Van Gaal made some changes by bringing on Valencia and Fletcher....while a lot of people doubt his decision to bring Valencia, I think it was probably better to field someone with a defensive mindset than to put Mata on. Anyway, United showed some good defending for the 30 minutes and held on to win the game 2-1.

Van Gaal will be glad to have the 3 points... |
It's not a great game from United but we'll take the three points...that's important for now.
